It's April!

 

Another month has passed! It's getting to that time of the year when students are struggling to get things done and going to things. I find it easy to get discouraged but God has been faithful to remind me of all that he has been doing this year and giving me the energy to finish this season well. My prayer for my students is that they would finish well and continue these good habits they have started this year into the summer.

One of the cool things that happened this last month was my trip to Roatan in Honduras with Drew and my parents. We were only able to go because of the generosity of my parents and I am so thankful. This vacation felt like a sabbath to me, I was able to rest and recenter my life on the Lord. I was blown away at how beautiful God's creation is, and that I am even able to experience the glory of it all. I spent a lot of time on that trip just thanking God for the beauty that is creation. How sweet is it to remember that the God who created everything, from the sun and the moon to the creatures roaming around, loves us and wants to have a relationship with us.

Coming to the end of the trip over spring break, I found myself eager to get back to the pace of life I have back here in Denton. I missed my students and my coworkers and getting to share life with them. It was a good reminder that God has given me a heart to be with his people and given me a heart for the place of Denton. 

Something I have been reflecting on recently is just how God calls us to live a life facing him. We ought to be planted and rooted in the word, facing the sun and letting him nourish us. I would encourage you to turn your face towards the Lord. Let his goodness fill you up like the warmth of the sun. Let his word get inside you and give you the energy to keep going. He is a good father and he is in charge of our growth! Praise God for that. I need that reminder as the year ends. Success is not how many people we are sending to SICM(our leadership training in May) but if we are faithful to follow God's calling. Praying that you can be faithful to where God has called you, wherever you are at in this season.
