September Has Flown By!

Another month down! I can't believe that I am already 2 months into this apprenticeship. I am so thankful that I am able to be a part of what God is doing here at UTD. He has brought so many amazing people into my life this year and I am so blessed by his goodness.

Some outreach on the Plinth

One of the cool things that happened this month was our outreach! We have been engaging students in conversations about happiness and what makes them happy. These last two weeks that we have been doing outreach, I have met so many people. The number of times people approached me is crazy! The very first day we did the boards, I met a girl who was doing ATEC (Arts and Technology) and we ended up talking for about 45 minutes about her life and her experiences with church. She'll be coming to our small group soon!

Our Core Girls aka Warm Biscuitz

Speaking of our core (small group), it has been so much fun getting to know this goofy and fun group of girls. They bring me so much joy! This photo was taken at Fall Camp, our overnight retreat. So many of the girls in our core came and it did lots for bonding our girls. You can tell how much they bonded in the deepness of our conversation coming back from Fall Camp.

We talked about living in community at Fall Camp this year.  It was really cool seeing how many students showed up. The weather was rainy but it didn't hinder our spirits. It was a little bit different being on staff and seeing more of the logistics of Fall Camp, but I really loved it. One of the really special things to me was after one of the sessions our core shared about their experiences with community, and how they are really excited to be a part of a positive and loving community.

UTD Fall Camp
Another sweet thing that happened this last month was getting to meet up with one of the girls who was in my core two years ago. She ended up leaving her faith because of some difficulty with the church that she was going to. I kept up with her some, but I hadn't talked to her very much in the last six months. She reached out to me this month and we ended up getting some time together. She rekindled her faith and started reading her Bible again. She was telling me how much she can see God at work in her life over the last couple of years. It was such a great reminder that God doesn't give up on people!

God is teaching me so much about his love and persistence. He is showing me how relentless his love is and how my worth is not in the things that I can do, but in his love for me. I can't wait to see how his love works in the lives of those I am studying the Bible with, those who I interact with through outreach, the girls in my core, and all of the people that I so graciously get to work with!

Pray for the conversations we're getting to have with non-believers, the interactions with those who know you but aren't all in yet and pray for understanding of the Word and how to use it!
